The nomadic tribes that followed the buffalo lived in teepees. As well as needing minimal resources to build, the teepee was a great survival shelter. Contrary to popular belief teepees were indeed warm in the winter. In the Summer larger gaps at the bottom kept the teepee cool. One of the key factors that made teepees resilient to storms was their cone shape and thorough anchoring.
